Format and venue:

The symposium will be held in southern part of Republic of Karelia, Russia. Field excursions will consist of visiting the ancient volcano Girvas, unique sources of mineral water (the first Russian resort the Martial Waters), the region of paleoseismic deformations on the western shore of the Onega Lake, Valaam Island with its unique geology and nature and in other places.

The Organizing Committee provides one and half days for oral and poster presentationsand three and a half days for field excursions. Within the framework of the conference there will be allocated time for the school of young scientists with lectures given by leading scientists The symposium and excursion will begin and end at Petrozavodsk – the capital of the Republic of Karelia. The important geological sites that will be visited during the field excursion are located in Girvas and Martsial'nyye Vody settlements, Valaam Island and Shoksha village.

In addition, the symposium offers a forum to all participants for presentations and discussions of recent achievements in Quaternary geology, stratigraphy, palaeogeography and glacial processes.

Registration fee:

The registration fee is set as 400 EUR. The fee covers field trip transportation, accommodation, full board and conference materials. Please note that the registration fee does not cover any health or travel insurance. Deadline for the registration fee is 30th May 2018.

Abstracts for oral and poster presentations:

We invite all of you to submit abstracts relevant to the topic of the Symposium. The language of the symposium will be English. Abstracts will be published in special conference volume and should not exceed 2 A4 pages (12 pt, single line spacing), including figures and references (see guidelines in the template attached to this circular).
